Thank u for u concern....

Can u kindly tell me what sort of drivers these are. I gave my laptop to sony service center 2 days back as they suspected defect in preinstalled windows 8.1 which came with laptop and they r installing windows via recovery disc which they say will wipe out every bit of hard disk n old windows n ll install new 1 plus the recovery parition. But I dont think so that the BSOD is due to windows error as windows doesnt show any file missing r corrupted. Even they installed Windows via an image they ve n in this process I dont knw what they did they corrupted resue mode n recovery wizard system which works via assist button and laptop shows error YOUR PC NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED......ERROR 0xc0000225.

I ll probably get it back today and ll test these drivers.

But I suspect faulty hard disk as it gets hot during normal PC functionality. Its toshiba mq01abd050 500GB wd 5400rpm.

I have installed the latest version of intel pro wireless wifi connection utility. But it is showing an error: "Driver is not installed"

How can I solve this issue. I have already installed "BroadcomGN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter". I tried by removing it and re-install intel pro wireless wifi connection utility, but it's not working.

well if you have an 802.11n router make sure it is a dual band one. and make sure you log in to the 5Ghz band. It is compatible but they it really does not seem to work very well in the 2.4Ghz range. and the best way to ask is if the college has an IT help desk calling and asking them if they have dual band or not.

The AC-7260 works best if you have a AC Router.  Also sadly to say your Netgear WNR2000v3 is not at dual band router.  If you are going to use the 802.11N standard it is best to have a dual band router and connect on the 5Ghz band.   Also please make sure your firmware of our router is up to date. sometime that can fix some issues.

Thanks for your reply, but I can't believe that the thousands of people who buy a laptop with the AC-7260 in it should also be required to buy a new dual band AC router.  Worse than that, even if that were true, wouldn't you think that the computer manufacturers and Intel would make sure that consumers know that the AC-7260 is -incompatible- with non-dual band or non-AC routers?  Not only that, but think of all of the places one could take their laptop that would still be using non-dual band, non-AC routers.  It would render the laptop useless in most places.

I can't believe that.  I believe that it is meant to work (even if not as good) with non-dual band and non-AC routers, and no one is doing anything to fix the problem.

Btw.. my router does have the latest firmware.

It is also good to make sure that the Firmware of the Router is up to date.

The  AC-7260 is but at the same time is not compatible with 802.11N networks.   The 802.11AC Standard mainly uses the 5Ghz range. So the AC-7260 will work with 802.11N routers that have the dual band so you can connect to the 5Ghz band.  It will work in the 2.4Ghz band but this card is having a lot off issues with slowness in that range.  So for best performance it is best to connect on the 5Ghz band.  And if you have not figured out how Technology works they always push you to buy the newest thing.  Just like Microsoft coming out with Windows 8 when Windows 7 is fine and making almost all new computes with Windows 8 making you have to use it.  The AC standard makes Wireless a lot faster So to get best performance out of the card it is best to match Standards.

Re: Color Calibration Issue with HD 4600 Graphics on Dell Latitude E6540

I am with you on this.

I have a new HP laptop that I have just found out uses a really low end display (deliberately I believe to keep the cost down). It casts a distinct blue tinge to photos and why on earh HP couldn't have made the necesary corrections to make it at least half way decent I don't know.

So now I need to colour calibrate the screen for my wife to use and then I find out that the laptop uses Intel HD4600 and that a lot of people have trouble in making a calibration stick.

Believe me there are times when I seriously just want to kiill designers and marketers that make these really stupid decisions.

Nuc Hd5000 losing vsync

Hi

Im running windows 8.1 64 on an intel nuc i5 haswell, using latest drivers (10.18.10.3910)(but had the same problem with previous version).

The only game I need to run is Nascar 2003.

I need vsync enabled to get smooth 3d, problem is, the hd5000 is sometimes "losing" vsync, especially in turns (so, when the scenery is changing a lot, i guess).

There is an FPS counter in the game, and what happens is that the fps goes above 60fps for a fraction of time (say, 1/10s, very short period), can be 65fps, or 100fps etc.

It is not the gpu or cpu beeing overloaded, if I disable vsync, fps is above 140fps for the whole track/race.

I also tried with a fixed cpu speed (forcing maximum performance) with no change.

If I run the same game with the exact same os and settings, except on an nvidia card, ive got no problem at all.

I know it's an old, unsupported game, but its the only one i'm interested in (beside emulators).

Could it be the GPU throttling, and causes those vsync loses at the moment it changes speed ?

Thanks for the help

Hi Allan,

The D54250WYKH is already running the latest BIOS version but I re-flashed it just to make sure. It is also running the latest IR drivers.

I did a clean install of Windows 8 again to test the theory but the same thing happens. I even tested a completely different remote to isolate that as the cause but no joy. Is this potentially a hardware fault?

Cheers,

Andre

So  after reading the above posts I would like to contribute .

I have a machine core i5 processor not sure on which model and a DH87rl motherboard, I have 1 stick of memory in place and after numerous tests have decided to post my problem, I have tried two power supplies and various minimal configurations.

The machine will post and boot up and shut down when it is tasked to do so.

When I try a ctrl+Alt+Del, or windows reboot or even a bios alteration the machine will not post after the request.

Example in windows, click restart the machine will shutdown and go to a blank screen like power save, monitor will switch off and the machine wont post, if I switch off the machine holding power button for 3 seconds and then switch on the machine it will post and boot correctly .

Same happens if I do a bios change and save and exit the machine lights will be on, fans spinning, but wont boot, I have to cycle power and it will post correctly with no errors .

Same if I disconnect HDD and machine doesn't have a OS to boot into, the machine will come up with a boot error, pressing CTRL + ALT+DEL and the machine will go into power save or try and restart but the screen will be blank .

Using the latest bios version cant remember which one but I know its the latest compared version numbers I think 0320 .

Will await for your response this is a genuine conflict with processor haven't had a chance to try the i3 processor and see if it does the same .

Re: Intel XTU no longer works/installs after changing from i5 to Xeon e3

Also, while windows reports 3.3ghz native frequency, the xeon does not go past 3.1ghz. Any reason why? Secondly, intel's tubo boost software tells me tubro boost is not enabled, but it definitely is ticked to enabled in the BIOS.

edit: After some tinkering I was able to change the multiplier in the bios to 37. Saving changes and exiting, I see the advertized 3.3ghz, and cpu-z reports a multipier of 33. I went back into the BIOS and sure enough, it's set to 33. So I change it again to 37 and now cpu-z reports a multiplier of 35.

After some more research, it looks like 3.5ghz is the maximum supported frequency on the e3-1230v2 CPU when all four cores are being used. I'm happy with this result, but would still like to achieve the 3.7/3.7/3.6/3.5 the BIOS reports as possible but is not letting happen (or that windows is not letting happen).

Still having the problem with turbo boost too. It is set to enabled in the BIOS but I am unable to toggle it or any setting related to it. Before messing with the BIOS A single core wouldn't budge over even 3.1ghz. Is there some setting that's can get in the way of turbo boost? Why Intel's utilities say It's not even present?

Re: DN2820FYKH infrared receiver Power on

Same problem here. I am using my NUC DN2820FYKH as PVR + Media Center in combination with a Philips flatscreen TV (it acts as the NUC's monitor). Every time I press "Power on/off" on the Philips IR remote, this will power up the NUC as well, regardless from the state it was in before. I have two Philips TVs with different IR remotes, but both can power up the NUC, so I think the Philips' on/off code is used by the NUC too.

I find this annoying because usually the last unit to be turned off is the TV (NUC's monitor!). And by doing that the NUC ist powered up again.

This might even ruin a preprogrammed timer recording, since the nuc doesn't go to sleep or is powered up accidentially by turning on the TV.

One simple solution would be to disable "wakeup by IR" in the NUC's BIOS but I didn't find anything there (Vers. 0038).

Is there any other solution or workaround?

Any plans to integrate the proposed function into a later BIOS?
