Re: Expanding SD card partition

This is because the image-full-galileo.ext3 on your SD card is 302MB. This is the root partition.

Now there are two options that can be done.

1. Try changing IMAGE_ROOTFS_SIZE in the image-full-galileo.bb file before you bitbake.

2. Mount your SD-card, Next mount the ext3 rootfs on the loop device.

Create a new ext3 with the specified size on your harddisk and copy all the files.

Now copy this new ext3 to the SD-card replacing the old rootfs.

Let me know if you need more detailed instructions,.

What I would be concerned with is the corruption on the drive.  It sounds like the boot/system drive.  You should check your event log to see if there are disk errors that were logged.

Now, and this is my personal opinion, disk drives are cheap, and if the corruption is due to a drive that is failing, it makes little sense to continue to use the drive.  I would replace the drive.  I would backup my data, collect any information about software installed, purchase a new drive, and start rebuilding.

Of course, it could be something entirely different.

Do you have Wake on LAN enabled in the bios?

I've tried with Ethernet unplugged and still wakes up.

No WiFi.

Tried also with HDMI (because of CEC) and still wakes up too.

I would still check the settings in BIOS.  Even with no ethernet plugged in it was happening to me.  I've seen that on several systems, even my laptop.

Intel NUC D54250WYB doesn't work with ONKYO TX-NR609

Hi,

First, I'd like to say that I like the NUC very much, the form factor, ports are exactly what I was looking for.

It perform also very well for my HTPC use (xbmc) and for some Steam  "in home streaming" ... when plugged directly to my tv (Samsung UA55F6700AM).

I installed windows 8.1 x64 (with the last available patches installed),the latest available bios (0027) and all the latest drivers including the graphics ones (10.18.10.3643).

As I said , when plugged directly to the tv , it's working fine (but because of the tv limitation, I can't have nothing better than stereo).

When plugged to my AV receiver (ONKYO TX-NR609) with a HDMI 1.4 cable :

-with vlc, movie is playing but no sound

-with xbmc, movie is choppy/slow...with no sound.

It's annoying.

I have installed the latest available firmware update from onkyo with no success, issues decribed above are still there...

I read here and there on this forum other users having the same issue ( even with the same AV receiver).

Is there any news, leads, updates to solve this problem?

Thanks!!

There is a workaround to allow you to output HD audio from Win7/Win8 as LPCM to your receiver.

You must meet the following criteria:

- be using XBMC

- be connected to your A/V receiver via HDMI (not optical)

The workaround, which I have posted about in the J1900 thread, relies on getting XBMC to software decode the compressed DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD audio to uncompressed LPCM and then outputting it over the HDMI to your receiver. The downside is that your CPU workload will increase to perform the decode, but this hasn't resulted in any impact on smooth video playback for me on a J1900 board and I'd expect the N2820 should probably be OK too.

To implement the workaround:

- In XBMC go to System > Settings > System > Set "Settings level" to "Expert"

- Now go to System > Settings > System > Audio Output

- Set "number of channels" to your correct surround sound setup - in my case "5.1" - this informs XBMC how many channels you want it to decode to

- Set "Enable passthrough" to unchecked/disabled. This will cause XBMC to decode audio itself.

XBMC will now software decode all audio and send it to your receiver uncompressed. Yes, it feels kind of wasteful making your CPU do this decode instead of your dedicated receiver, but this is the position Intel (and Microsoft, by making this stupid HDCP DRM mandatory) has forced us into. Note that if you are outputting audio via optical and not HDMI, it does not have enough bandwidth for six channels of uncompressed audio so you will not get full surround.

Stuff I'm not sure about that it would be good if people could test

- CPU load impact of decoding audio on an N2820 - like I say, it's fine on a J1900 so fingers crossed.

- Ability to output more than 5.1 LPCM over HDMI (according to this article, 8-channel 7.1 should be OK but I don't have that setup to test)

- Whether media frontends other than XBMC can perform the above - sorry you're on your own!

I hope this helps some people out, spread the word if so. The other workaround, of course, is running Openelec but I like keeping Windows compatibility with this method

Intel HD Graphics 3000 black screen issue?

So I installed a program known as the "Bluestacks App Player" a few months back. It's basically an emulator designed to run Android apps on a PC. When I first downloaded it, it told me it needed a more up-to-date driver. I thought this was weird, since Windows update is supposed to keep my drivers up-to-date automatically, but decided to go along with it anyway (because, you know, those Flappy Bird urges...). Anyway, as soon as it installed the driver, my entire screen went black for about 10 seconds. Then the screen reappeared, but with a really old Windows design that I had previously only seen when I booted my Windows 7 laptop in safe mode. After a minute or so however, the screen disappeared and then reappeared with the normal Windows 7 design and layout. I started up the Bluestacks program, and it worked fine and I was able to play some of my favorite Android apps on my laptop (Temple Run, Flappy Bird, Cut the Rope, etc). I thought this was really cool and decided to not do a system restore, despite the scariness of the screen blacking out / displaying the safemode style of Windows. After a month or so I had basically forgot about it.

However, the other day when I was watching some videos on Youtube, my screen blacked out for a few seconds before reappearing. An error message appeared, which I ignored assuming it was a one time glitch. However, a minute later when I was watching another Youtube video, the screen once again blacked out for a few seconds. This time I read the error message. (see attached image).Image

My first thought was "What the f***! I don't even have Windows 8 installed. My machine came with and has always had Windows 7."

So my question is, why do I apparently have a driver for Windows 8(R) installed on my machine? Could a compatibility issue between this Win 8 driver and my Win 7 OS be causing my intermittent screen crashes? Also, is there a way to tell what drivers I am supposed to have on my machine?

Here's another pic. of the "programs" that were installed withImage

Bluestacks. Some of them sound like they may have installed drivers.

Any help / advice would be appreciated. (But DON'T just tell me to do a system restore / repair install.)

P.S.: The youtube crashes have become more frequent recently; usually my screen blacks out either when trying to load a Youtube video or midway through a Youtube video. It happens on average at least once or twice a day. The screen usually only blacks out for a few seconds, then reappears with the error message shown above.

Also, I have checked my computer manufacturer's website. I already tried downloading what i believe is the correct driver.

Image

However, after downloading nothing actually happened. When I checked downloads, it had downloaded an intel folder with a bunch of files inside it. How do i make it install the driver?

I'm not sure how to use the downloaded folder from my computer's site to actually install the driver. Also, I currently have a higher version of the intel driver, so i'm not sure if i can install this one since it is a previous version. Do i have to uninstall my current intel VGA driver first? If so, will my computer be able to function without its VGA driver. Since my computer is just a black screen whenever the driver fails, if i uninstall it, won't i be faced with a permanent black screen. Will I even be able to see what I'm doing?

No solution yet.  Gonna be tackling it later today.   Still assuming its a hardware issue but haven't narrowed it down much yet.

For your card (6230), you need to install 3.x software for BT part. The 17.0 or 17.1 release will work for WiFi.

Hi everyone, I need to generate a frequency from 50 Hz to 50 KHz. Using PWM I assumed I need to work with registers to change the default internal frequency of TIMERs. So i'm trying to use tone ( ). I need to know which pin is better in Galileo 1st Gen and where to find a documentation about PIN > COMMANDS (i mean for which pins the commands works properly e.g. PWM, TONE, FastPwm etc) thanks

The new driver doesn't fix the reconnect after hibernate problem.  Perhaps the problem is different than the reconnect after sleep problem.

I never let my laptop sleep. But the only way I ever turn it "off" is to put it in hibernation. The new driver still fails to reconnect after resuming from hibernation.

Re: New NUC will not start

Hi JasonHoffman,

Thanks for the response, and sorry for the slow reply. I ordered my NUC D54250WYK from Amazon, so I went ahead and got a replacement, as I believed it might be a hardware problem. As it turns out, the second NUC behaved exactly the same way. The RAM worked fine when just one stick was in the upper slot, but any time the lower slot was occupied (regardless of whether there was a stick of RAM in the upper slot) it would not boot and the power light flashed 3 times.

I found another forum thread - NUC D54250WYK Dual Channel 1866Mhz memory - that address this problem specifically.

The RAM i had ordered was: Crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 8GB Single DDR3 1866 MT/s (PC3-12800) CL10 @1.35V 204-Pin Memory BLS8G3N18AES4 at Amazon.…

which, according to Intel in the thread I cite above, is not supported: "Please bear in mind this motherboard model does not support 1866 MHz memory. So, Intel will not release BIOS updates that support your memory. Your board can handle DDR3L 1333/1600, 1.35V"

Thanks to Amazon's 30-day no-questions-asked return policy, I'm just shipping back the 1866 MHz RAM and replacing it with Crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 8GB Single DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) CL9 @1.35V 204-Pin Memory BLS8G3N169ES4 at Amazon.c… Hopefully that will work.

To answer your question about BIOS, I was running WYLPT10H.86A.0021.2013.1017.1606, but updated BIOS to WYLPT10H.86A.0027.2014.0710.1904. The RAM still didn't work, as the other forum thread says it won't.

Re: Intel BXTS13X Liquid Cooling air flow direction

Is D54250WYK (i5 Haswell) compatible with Samsung 840 EVO 1TB mSATA Internal SSD?

$

I purchased a i5 Haswell NUC and a Amazon.com: Samsung 840 EVO 1TB mSATA Internal SSD SATA III 6Gb/s (compatible with SATA II 3Gb/s and SATA I 1.5Gb/s). I can't get BIOS to recognize the drive. I'm running BIOS version WYLPT10H.86A.0027.2014.0710.1904

I have an identical NUC running a Amazon.com: Crucial M500 240GB mSATA Internal Solid State Drive - which also features SATA III (I assume because the specs on the crucial website say it has 6Gbps xfer speed which is the SATA III standard).

Anyone know why this isn't working? Is 1TB too big for the NUC?

Re: Bluetooth problem

Hi, I'm facing the same problem as the initial submitter mrnickg.

I'm unable to listen to my iPod music through Bluetooth on my PC speakers.

I have a Dell Inspiron 17R 5737 with Windows 8.1 and the Intel(R) Wireless-N 7260 adapter ( with BT 4.0) level 16.6.0.8.

Reading the Microsoft documentation ( General Bluetooth Support in Windows (Windows Drivers) it is stated:

"Windows Support for Bluetooth Versions

What’s new in Windows 8.1?

Windows 8.1 includes the following enhancements to the Bluetooth stack and related software:

  • Inbox radio management control for Bluetooth version 4.0 radios.
  • Windows Runtime API support for RFCOMM and GATT protocol access.

What’s new in Windows 8?

Windows 8 includes the following enhancements to the Bluetooth stack and related software:

  • Support for Bluetooth version 4.0:
    • Bluetooth Low Energy support allows Windows to connect with Bluetooth Smart peripherals.
    • eL2CAP enables enhanced re-transmission and flow control for profiles that require this functionality.
  • An extensible transport model allowing support for Bluetooth radios on non-USB buses
  • Support for the HFP, A2DP, and AVRCP Profiles"

In the Architectural Overview (Architectural Overview (Windows Drivers)), it is stated:

"

This topic presents an architectural overview of the Windows 8.1 support for rerouting audio data to bypass the Bluetooth host controller interface (HCI).

Starting with Windows 8.1, the Microsoft operating system has been updated to be compatible with low power system-on-a-chip (SoC) design solutions. The new Windows support is compatible with either Intel-based or ARM-based SoC designs. These new low-power devices will be optimized for “always on” scenarios, so low battery consumption will be a key factor for success.

SoC architectures use the Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART) transport mode to transmit data to and from the Bluetooth host controller.

Because UARTs cannot provide time sensitive data transmission, a synchronous connection oriented (SCO) bypass channel must be implemented in addition to a UART, to transfer audio data via I2S or some other connection between the audio codec and the Bluetooth radio. This means that audio data must be rerouted to bypass the Bluetooth HCI. The Bluetooth HCI which would normally be used on PCs to transmit audio data.

It is important to note that this feature is simply offloading the same functionality that exists in versions of Windows prior to Windows 8.1, so from a user perspective there are no use cases that are different between the Bluetooth hands-free profile (HFP) on SoC and Bluetooth HFP in Windows on a PC or laptop."

And after the diagram:

"Note that this Windows feature does not support bypass audio streaming using advanced audio distribution profile (A2DP). Windows 8 provides a separate A2DP profile driver that completely supports audio functionality through the standard Bluetooth HCI without requiring any additional audio drivers."

.

To summarize: the BT architecture in Windows 8.1 process has changed from the previous Windows versions.

And the A2DP is still supported in Windows 8.1 since it was brought by Windows 8. As a consequence, when an iPhone/iPod is BT appaired to the PC its speakers should be able to play their music.

That behaviour was true on my professional laptop under Windows 7 and the same iPod.

I expect that you would be able to restore such expected BT behaviour on Windows 8.1.

Thanks for your action. Best regards. Gilbert.

I can verify the problem is occurring again when connecting to the same SSID after sleep. I received the "attempting to authenticate" error in the "change adapter settings" of network and sharing center in Windows 7 x64.
